ENDOWMENTS FOR CREATION OF PHYSICAL FACILITIES (a) Institutions and individuals may make a one time contribution for construction of Buildings or floors/wings of the Buildings like Hostels/Academic Block/Library Block/ Faculty Block. (b) Institutions and individuals can make a one time contribution of not less than Rupees Five Lakhs to the University for providing any or part of the following: (i) Audio-Visual and other facilities for the Seminar Hall and the Hall could be named after the Donor or his nominee; (ii) Facilities for the Moot Court Hall and the Hall could be named after the Donor or his nominee; (iii) Educational equipment and teaching aids including computers; (iv) Matador/Bus to Students for Legal Aid Work; and other clinical activities; (v) Rooms for participation in Continuing Education programmes. II. ENDOWMENTS FOR INSTITUTION OF CHAIRS (a) An Endowment Chair can be instituted by donating a sum of not less than Rupees Thirty Lakhs or One Hundred Thousand US Dollars as corpus fund. (b) The Chair can be named after an institution or an individual in any specific branch of Law or a subject of inter-disciplinary area. (c) The Endowment amount shall be invested in bank deposits or such other safe deposits like Unit Trust of India so that the maximum possible annual interest is accrued; (d) The expenditure on the salary and other service and research requirements of the appointee to the Chair shall be met out of the proceeds of the endowment amount; Provided, that if in any particular year expenditure over and above the income from the deposits is incurred the same shall be met by the University. Provided also that the unspent balance, if any, in the interest accrued in any year shall be added to the corpus of the Endowment; (e) The Executive Council shall invite eminent academicians or jurists to occupy the chair on the basis of the recommendations of a duly appointed Selection Committee. III. ENDOWMENT LECTURE SERIES The University also proposed to organize endowment lectures in honour of the person the donor would like the University to organize. For this, the donor has to make a contribution of Rs.10,00,000/-. The series of lectures delivered would be published in the form of a book for under circulation. IV. ENDOWMENT LECTURE The University also has a scheme to organize endowment lecture in honour of the person the donor would like the University to organize. For this, the donor has to make a contribution of Rs.5,00,000/-. The lecture delivered would be published in the form of a booklet. V. ENDOWMENTS FOR INSTITUTION OF SCHOLARSHIPS (a) Scholarships/Fellowships/Freeships for deserving and meritorious Under-graduate and/or Post-graduate students can be instituted by Institutions or individuals on donating a sum not less than Rupees Two Lakhs Fifty Thousand; (b) For the accrual of maximum possible interest the endowment amount shall be invested in fixed deposits; (c) The University shall pool together the interest earned from the donations for Scholarships in a year and shall award such number of Scholarships/Freeships/ Fellowships to deserving students as the Faculty Committee may decide in any particular year. The main criterion for all such awards of Scholarships/Freeships/ Fellowship shall be merit coupled with means. The decision of the Selection Committee as approved by the Vice Chancellor shall be final; (d) (i) A donor who wishes to name the Scholarships after an institution or an individual he can do so with the approval of the University by donating a sum of not less than Rupees Five Lakhs. Ordinarily these Scholarships shall be awarded purely on consideration of academic merit and achievement. However, any specific conditions of the donor for the award of the scholarship shall be fulfilled once agreed by the University. (ii) Once a Scholarship under this clause is awarded it will continue for the full period of the programme which the candidate is pursuing provided a report of satisfactory progress is made by the Selection Committee. In case of unsatisfactory progress, as determined by the Selection Committee, the Scholarship will be terminated on the recommendation of the Selection Committee and with the approval of the Vice Chancellor. (iii) The donors will be informed the names of the students who are awarded the Scholarships, as soon as they are announced by the University. |
